Obsidian Obsidian is a volcanic rock that forms when lava solidifies so quickly that there is not enough time for crystals to grow. As a rule, obsidian is glass. Glass, unlike crystals, has no regular structure and therefore fractures in smooth curved shapes. The intersection of these fractures can form edges sharper than the finest steel blades. For this reason, obsidian was used by many native cultures to make arrowheads and blades. Obsidian comes in a variety of colors and expressions such as: Mahogany expresses a rust or brick red color, Snowflake and Chrysanthemum display white floral patterns, Rainbow displays a luminescence. The intrinsic properties of the numerous forms of Obsidian include the reflection of one's flaws and the promotion of a clear picture of the changes which are necessary to eliminate the flaws. The energies of Obsidian produce very blunt answers, focusing ones inner visions and stimulating a picture or vision of the required course of action. It is a grounding stone and provides a shield against negativity. |
