Bauxite

Bauxite is not a mineral, but a product of rock weathering that contains several constituent minerals.  It occasionally forms recognizable hand specimens, but they vary greatly in their appearance due to the abundance of inclusive material.  Clay minerals, hematite, magnetite, goethite, siderite, and quartz are common impurities, and most deposits contain lesser amounts of rutile, anatase and zircon.  They range in color from yellowish-white to gray, or from pink to dark red or brown if high in iron oxides.  Bauxite often forms from laterites, soils that develop in warm tropical climates and that tend to be leached of all soluble material.  Bauxites are currently forming in tropical regions in Australia, Brazil, and western Africa.

Almost all of the aluminum produced to date has come from bauxite.  By far the largest producer is Queensland, Australia, followed by Jamaica, Brazil and Guinea.  These four localities account for more than half of the world’s bauxite production.  Other countries include France, Italy, Greece, China, the US and Ghana.  For our purposes, we only use the rough material that is too difficult to extract aluminum from.

Bauxite has been used in meditation and has produced a calm and ready channel for obtaining answers to personal questions.  It assists one in connecting with the energies and the information relative to the native cultures of northern Africa, bringing knowledge of ritualistic methodology and healing practices.  Bauxites energy is joyful.
